Indielab South Yorks Games Accelerator is run in partnership with TEAM SY, a project part-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund and delivered in partnership with Barnsley Council and Capital Enterprise.

South Yorks Games Tech Accelerator 2022

Working with leaders, major studios and organisations across the sector, we bring you a growth programme to accelerate your potential as a games technology business and as emerging talent in the sector.

Each company accepted onto the Games Tech Accelerator will be allocated two places at all of our bespoke masterclasses, events and workshops in the critical areas you need to fast-track your business.

Where and when will the programme take place?

The programme will be delivered virtually, taking advantage of Indielab Connect, our bespoke networking platform and app. In-person community meet-ups will also take place in a central location in Sheffield.

South Yorks Games Accelerators will run from October to November 2022.

Tuesday 4 October – all day, followed by evening drinks reception [taking place in Sheffield]

Friday 7 October – morning [taking place online]

Tuesday 8 November – morning [taking place online]

Wednesday 9 November – morning [taking place online]

Friday 11 November – morning [taking place online]

Plus an online session in the week of 5 December, date TBC

Is there a charge to take part?

The Games Accelerators are fully funded, so there is no cost to attend.  There are a limited number of places available on each accelerator, and we expect a high level of interest in the programme. Who will the speakers and trainers be?

Throughout the programme we will be inviting industry leaders from the across the UK and global sectors to deliver insight and perspective. These speakers will include leading game studio founders, publishers, platforms, streamers, investors and legal and financial specialists. Full details of speakers will be provided when you are accepted onto the programme, but details of our many previous speakers can be found here.

Application Criteria

Across the programme we are looking for diversity of voice, insight and experience. We encourage applications from all sectors of the community including company founders with the following backgrounds: Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME); disabled and neurodiverse people; companies founded by women.  

Specifically: 

  1. Applicant companies’ core activity should be to develop technology to support or service the games sector..

  2. Applicant companies should be post-revenue. Please note there are a limited number of places available for start-ups.

  3. Applicant companies must have their trading office in the South Yorkshire region (the metropolitan boroughs of Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham), and be able to demonstrate this.

Deadline for applications is Tuesday 20 September at 10am.
